Customer Service for Young Entrepreneurs
Look up and smile
Phones down. Look every customer in the eye. Smile. That's 80% of customer service right there.
Say their name if you learn it
If a customer tells you their name, use it. 'Thanks, Sarah!' is twice as warm as 'Thanks!' alone.
When something goes wrong
If a product breaks or you mess up an order, fix it without arguing. Apologize, replace the item, and don't make it a big deal. Customers remember how you handle problems more than the problems themselves.
Always say thank you
Every customer, every time. Even the ones who only look and don't buy. They might come back later — and they tell their friends.
Customers don't remember exactly what you sold them. They remember exactly how you made them feel.
